A New Kind of Multi-Author Book

San Diego City College Learing Recource City r...
Image of woman selecting a book

There are a lot of multi-author books available. You’ve probably read at least one. Chicken Soup for the Soul is an example of this type of book. There are stories from various authors, yet they are connected only by a theme. They are not in any other way blended.

What Ken McArthur and I are doing with The Story of Impact is quite different.  He is ready to create his next bestseller to follow Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions, and Make a Difference in a Noisy World. We will write the bulk of the book and weave stories of our co-authors into it. Our co-authors will have their own story, of course. But their work will be part of a story arc – part of a larger story. They are not simply isolated articles compiled into a book.

I invite you to read my latest update of the project on ProfitableStorytelling.com.

One impact story we will be sharing is about the Impact Action Team and SpeakUpChangeLives.org.

The Story Lady Lights A Fire Under Your Feet!

I always find it interesting that people will raise their hand and say, “I WANNA!” and then fail to do the simplest action to make things happen after that.

This project will change your life as a co-author. Not only will you get

  • a chapter written for you
  • a #1 bestseller campaign
  • a multimedia arena thowcasing YOU
  • media attention
  • media training
  • and so much more!

You’ll be an ambassador of Impact, changing lives while growing your own business. Isn’t that awesome!

So what else do you need to light a fire under your feet and get moving?

Herding Cats.

Kitty in the Window

I spent a few hours both last week and this week individually replying to people who asked for information about being a co-author.

Here is everything to get you started as a co-author.

Llet me give you the link to all the info in 1 place:

All info about being a co-author with Ken McArthur here.

1 please – if you have not already – register at TheImpactStory.com. (that’s what’s behind the big button on the special 1-stop shop I made for you. Why? Because that way you’ll get all the latest info, and I don’t want you to miss a THNG!

2. On the special page, you’ll notice 3 links. One of them is an author info PDF. That gives you the overview of what’s happening. Please read that and make sure you still wish to be involved.

3. Assuming you still “want in” be a co-author – and I most warmly and sincerely hope you do – then there is an link with the application which includes your contact info and a brief description of your story. You’ll send that to us using the addresses you’ll see there.

It costs you nothing except a few minutes to fill out the application. You are not sending payment at that time. You are merely signing off that you understand the conditions of inclusion in the book.

You don’t need to write a tome.  Just give me a paragraph about how your chapter fits into creating an impact. You aren’t writing a chapter, or even a page.

Think 1-2 paragraphs. that’s easy, isn’t it?

What Happens Next?

Next, I’ll review your story idea.

What does that mean?

Just that. It means I will look at your story idea (a paragraph or 2 is all we need) and make sure it fits.

We have a lot of folks who have asked but not followed through. You must think I’m a slasher or an ogre or something. So let me dispell that notion right sesy.

Now, please realize…

  • I’m not judging you.
  • I’m not looking for ways to tear you down.
  • I’m not looking for fatal flaws.
  • I’m not looking for a reason to exclude you from the book.

As a matter of fact, the vast majority of people who send me a story idea are accepted, even when they’re not sure their idea is “good enough” for the book.

I’m creating your story and giving you all sorts of support. Soon, I’ll be starting to do the interviews with those who are committed! I am SOOOOOO excited about telling your story – I can hardly wait!

OK – back to telling you what happens next. It’s simple.

5. When I approve your story, you’ll receive a nice CONGRATULATIONS email at that time with the link to complete the contract.

6. You will print, sign, and make payment at that time.

Remember, you don’t have to write anything for the book yourself. That’s what I’ll do for you, and believe me, I’ll make you look good…really good! Red Carpet Night on the Town Good! I want you to shine, and of course I want KEN to shine.

How much easier can it get than that?

So please  take that step of completing an application. I’ve approved almost everybody who has applied thus far.

Let’s take the journey to #1 besteelling authors of a #1 bestselling book, changing lives and creating a huge IMPACT together!

I can hardly wait to help you tell your story!

Call for Co-Authors Yields Avalanche of Emails

This is truly exciting. Without warning, Ken McArthur sent out an email yesterday asking for anyone who wants to be part of the Impact book project to write me an email.  And I had the delightful task of responding to over 30 people who wanted information about beocming a co-author with us on the Story of Impact book!

The Story of Impact: by Ken McArthur with Ronda Del Boccio & Co-Authors

The Impact Story is YOUR story of how one small conversation – one small action – can lead to a decision that changes thousands or even millions of lives.

If you’re thinking of emailing me (which of course I invite and encourage) what I will tell you is this:

To make life easy for you, I did a short 12 minute call about the co-author experience and put all the links you’ll need on the page. You’ll see a link to the full 1-hour webinar we did plus the PDF co-author information guide and the document you’ll use to apply.

And let me tell you some wonderful benefits ofbeing the author of a book in print. Continued…

Brief Webinar – Will you Be a Co-Author in The Story of Impact?

Hey, it’s Ronda Del Boccio, the Story Lady and co-author with Ken McArthur for The Story of Impact. I am incredibly excited to be part of this project. The story of creating impact in action needs to be told, and it’s not one person’s story.

Image of Ken McArthur from Twitter
Image of Ken McArthur

I’ve been talking with people about being a co-author in the book, and evidently some folks have a few misconceptions about the project. I don’t want people who have a great story to tell and who would be a wonderful co-author with us to hesitate or hold back.

Ronda Del Boccio

Image of Ronda Del Boccio

So let me help you understand what kind of person makes a good co-author.

One person said, “I have only been to one JV Alert. “

That doesn’t matter. You don’t ever need to have attended one of Ken’s events to be a co-author. This is about having an impact.

Someone said, “I don’t know Ken very well.”

The book is not about who knows Ken Mcarthur how well. It’s about the story of IMPACT!. It’s about how you are creating impact.

Someone else said, “You must be flooded with applicants.”

Well – I’m the one collecting and screening the applicants – so what I say is…”BRING THEM ON! I WANT to have dozens and dozens of applicants. Never let what you think may be going on cause you to sort yoruself out before you’ve even begun.

We Want to Tell Your Story of Impact

So I talked with Ken and said, “Ken, I don’t want people to sort themselves out of this project before they’ve even gotten the details. I want to do a short webcast to lay everything out.”

Ken was nice enough to tell me to do whatever I want (which makes life even MORE fun for me!), and so I’m doing a brief webcast taht you can attend over lunch tomorrow or listen later.

Please join me live via phone or computer for a 20-30 minute webcast about being a co-author for The Story of Impact.

Listen to a short call about the Impact Story Book Project You’ll hear what we’re doing and see links to the book information and application right there on the page. You can even ask your questions using the form there, and I’ll answer them during the call.

Want to Write a Book Together?

http://theimpactfactor.com/images/ImpactCoverMediumTrim.jpg

Talk About an Impact!

Imagine how I felt just a year ago and how you can be feeling soon …

Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions and Make a Difference in a Noisy World, started out with a bang.

First of all, before it was even written,

Imagine that you study all of the different ways to publish a book.

You look at self-publishing, entrepreneurial publishing and traditional publishing and in the end decide to get a literary agent and publish Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions and Make a Difference in a Noisy World, with a traditional publisher.

Even before it’s written you ask your friends how many people they would personally endorse your book to.

When you add up the response …

It comes to over 3.8 MILLION people in less than 24 hours.

As you write your book proposal, the number grows, by millions more.

You put together a crack team of top-level book marketing and publicity experts to launch the book.

When you approach a top-literary agent …

He signs you up almost immediately.

Together with your agent you fine-tune the proposal and quickly have THREE major publishing companies bidding for the book.

Career Press makes you an offer can’t refuse!

You quickly write the book with the help of Glenn Dietzel and Ronda Del Boccio and by May it is published.

Impact hits #1 on THREE best-seller lists!

PR Channel lists Impact at top of “6 Must-Read Books for Public Relations People”

Impact makes the ” Top 10 Marketing Books for Executives” and the “Where’s your Wow?” Recommended Reading List

Impact even makes the Top 10 Marketing Books of 2008 list.

So what’s next?

It’s time to write the next book!

Impact has been an amazing success, but one thing for sure … life never stops and you shouldn’t either.

I’ve been kicking around new book ideas for a while now and what I really want to write about is the real story of Impact.

The story of Impact is the way that we touch each other one life at a time in small ways that may go unnoticed and unrewarded, but still have a HUGE impact on the people around us and all of the people who they touch.

You are the story of Impact!

And I want you to help me write it.

We are all connected.

From a single conversation with three people sitting on a coach in a hotel lobby, you were touched today.

You are part of a growing family that has changed the lives of millions of people, generated millions of dollars in income and saved the lives of many.

And I don’t even know half the story.

YOU do!

You know how being a part of the Impact story impacted YOUR life and you may even have a hint of how it impacted the lives of the people around you.

Because it spreads in ways that we can’t even begin to imagine, we can’t tell the whole story, but we can get the conversation started.

We can measure a small part of the way that we impact the lives around us.

And we should, because …

It’s in the measuring of our impact that we realize that what we do matters.

What you do matters, whether you want it to or not.

You make a difference personally in the lives of everyone you touch, even if you’d rather not.

This week I was approached by a publisher who wants me to gather the stories into a book.

Would You Like Co-Author With Me On Our Next Book?

Before you answer, I need to let you know a few things.

I’ve always believed that we can do so much more working together than we can apart.

Just think of a collaboration like “The Secret” or “Chicken Soup For the Soul.”

Can you see how working together creates amazing synergy?

Here’s what I’d like you to imagine.

Imagine you write a chapter for our book.

In the chapter, you share how the “Impact Factor” has made a difference to you, what you have learned and how it has spread beyond your life and impacted other people.

Imagine that you have the help of a professional writer and editor to help you through the writing process, to interview you and to create not only a written record of your story, but capture your compelling words in audio and video format as well.

Then imagine that everything else is done for you.

The book is professionally edited, the cover looks beautiful, you are a featured co-author with a wonderful book about to be published.

Then imagine that your book is available both in print AND in a very compelling on-line multi-media version with professionally edited audio and video clips as well as your own personal authors page where you can link to you own backend products and services.

Next imagine that we combine the marketing power of all of the jvAlert partners that we’ve built for years — those multiple MILLIONS of personal endorsements for the book — a world-class team of publicity and book marketing experts and the synergy of ALL of the co-authors of an amazing book and …

This book goes straight to the top of the best seller lists

Because we are working together as a team.

Imagine the kind of  teamwork  that put “The Secret” into motion.  Imagine the synergy that happens when we work together for a common cause.

So …

Want to Write a Book Together?

I’m not going sit here and blow smoke …

It’s easy to dream, but reality is a different story.

You don’t just spend an evening writing a quick chapter and suddenly you are blessed with a #1 Best Selling Book.

Here are all the reasons why you may NOT want to be a co-author for this book.

  • You might hate to write – Although having a professional writer/editor coach you through writing a simple chapter is a GREAT way to start.
  • You might be constitutionally unable to finish ANYTHING. — You DO have to get the chapter done.
  • You might have NO story to tell – That’s hard to imagine if you’ve been alive for more than 15 years, but I’m willing to listen if you want to tell me that kind of made-up story (Which proves you are a writer by the way!)
  • You might not be willing to help us market and promote the book -  that’s a real bummer because we only want people who will work together to take this to the top.  You don’t have to be an expert at promoting, but you do have to do your share. We WILL have training specifically for everyone who writes a chapter for the book to help them really leverage their new-found celebrity and credibility.

Finally …

Two other key factors.

1.  There are only so many chapters that we can put in this book.

I’m not looking to write an encyclopedia.  I’m looking for a SOLID book with solid content.

After all, this is the sequel to Impact: How to Get Noticed, Motivate Millions and Make a Difference in a Noisy World.

There is NO WAY I’m putting out something that’s less than incredible for my next book.

Only the best chapters will be in the finished book and we will NOT include any that are not outstanding.

Absolutely no filler material let in.

2. If you are accepted as a co-author, you will have a financial stake in this project.

I have a financial stake in this project and even more important to me, a REPUTATION stake in this project.

You will too.

Each co-author will invest towards the completed project — and share in the rewards.

There will be amazing rewards!

As you know – or should know – the direct financial rewards from printed book sales are usually minimal even for a best seller.

You don’t get rich off of the sales of a printed book in most cases.

That’s where the online, multimedia version of the book really kicks in.

Imagine the combined forces of all of the co-authors generating traffic to the multi-media version where profits are much higher and lead generation is at it’s best.

Imagine at the same time gaining the credibility and celebrity of being a best-selling print book author and seeing your book on the shelf at the local Barnes and Noble.

Imagine being able to leverage that credibility and celebrity for EVERYTHING that you are doing, while generating a stream of new customers who are eager to purchase your on-going products and services.

That is PRICELESS to you.

I know.

I’ve been there, done that and life is much better as a published, best-selling author.

There’s no better way to get your ideas, products and services out to MILLIONS of people.

In fact, if you are a co-author of this book, your ideas WILL be seen by more people than you ever imagined.

So what do you need to do next?

It’s easy!

First …

Fill out this form to get on the co-author information list:

Second …

Download this PDF document which gives you all the details.

Third …

Download this Simple Co-Author Application Form to tell us how to contact you and what your story is.

When you complete the form, just email it to ken AT jvAlert.com

I’m looking forward to writing a best-seller with you!

But, don’t wait too long or this book will be on the shelves before you get your e-mail out.

I enjoy taking action all the way to completion!

All the best,

Ken McArthur
